A Los Angeles Homeless Shelter Calls Out Kanye West For Not Delivering On Promises He Made

Kanye West is a busy guy. I mean, who else is going to harass his ex-wife Kim Kardashian‘s most recent ex-boyfriend, Pete Davidson, to the point he allegedly has to check in to seek professional trauma therapy because of it? No one but Kanye has time for that! And so, some of Kanye’s other commitments have fallen to the wayside. One is a promise Kanye made to the Los Angeles Mission about helping the houseless community find work and fighting the houseless crisis in LA. But allegedly, Kanye has done absolutely nothing about it. Well, have the houseless people of LA considered how long it takes to make a Claymation replica of Pete Davidson and then kill it? That’s time-consuming!

Kanye has done work with the houseless community in the past. In 2019, he visited the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row and also held a Sunday Service there. Which is debatable, in terms of a reward–do houseless people need to be houseless and also listen to Kanye proselytize about getting his wife back? Haven’t they suffered enough? But Kanye also donated 1,000 meals and encouraged volunteering, which is undeniably helpful. He’s given worse gifts–he once gifted his ex-wife, Kim, the ghost of her dead father. Can’t eat that. Here’s some video of Kanye from back then:

And TMZ says that since, Kanye met with the leaders of the LA Mission last November to lay out some “ambitious plans” for dealing with the houseless crisis, which involved having all of his Kanye-brand companies somehow involved in getting them jobs. But sources say that nothing has really happened since then:

The L.A. Mission thinks Kanye West needs to turn his words into action, and the org. is frustrated he hasn’t followed through on his vow to help the homeless get jobs and housing … folks familiar with the Mission’s struggles tell TMZ.

Kanye got all inspirational Friday, posting this on IG … “look to the homeless as the biggest inspiration for all design.” It’s unclear what he meant, but it resurfaces some of the promises the rapper made last year, when he visited the Mission and vowed to use his companies to help the homeless get jobs, education and housing.

Our sources say little if anything has been done since.

Kanye waxing philosophical isn’t moving the ball forward for the homeless crisis in L.A… We’re told folks from the Mission have attempted to contact Ye several times since the meeting, to no avail…

We’re told the L.A. Mission wants to work with Kanye, because he’s a huge star with a megaphone and could do a lot of good.

After news of Kanye’s alleged non-helpfulness circulated, someone in Kanyeland probably texted the LA Mission and did damage control, because the President and CEO, Troy Vaughn, later gave a statement to TMZ saying how excited they are to be working with Kanye, and that they TOTALLY have previously, before now, had conversations about collaborating. And I believe him… not at all.

“We have absolutely had collaborative discussions with Ye about improving the lives of the unhoused on Skid Row, especially through design as he mentioned in his tweet. We are extremely optimistic that Ye will be an instrumental force in helping us launch The Skid Row Revitalization Project in the coming months.”

I’m sure that after Kanye’s team spoke with the LA Mission, they also received a box of Yeezy-brand leather jackets and balaclavas to hand out to the houseless people they work with. Sure, they still don’t have houses or jobs, but hey–the LA houseless community is about to be the chicest houseless community there is!
