YouTube’s Try Guys Kicked Member Ned Fulmer To The Curb After He Cheated On His Wife

I don’t know who the fuck The Try Guys are, but today my Twitter feed was filled with their pics and references to a cheating scandal. So here we are! Now, at first glance, I assumed the Try Guys were a Christian a cappella group, but I was mistaken. Jezebel reports that they’re actually a “Buzzfeed series turned independent YouTube channel. They have almost 8 million subscribers, and their videos have titles likem “The Try Guys Bake Pie Without A Recipe,” “Keith Eats Everything At KFC,” and “The Try Guys Switch Pets For A Day.” One of the men, Ned Fulmer (second to right, beard), is known as a “Wife Guy.” His wife of ten years, Ariel Fulmer, appears in many videos. So fans’ worlds were rocked when 35-year-old Ned was accused of cheating on Ariel with Try Guys producer Alex Herring. And, this just in, after an “internal review,” the Try Guys dumped Ned! Makes sense. Philanderers aren’t a good fit for their brand, which appears to be “so earnest it hurts.”

I went to YouTube to watch one of the Try Guy’s videos, and the first comment on Ned and Ariel making a fancy burger together was, “Not to sound cheesy, but Ned and Ariel are like the people who will make you believe in love.” So, clearly, this scandal was a shock to Try Guys fans. Jezebel explains that this is Gen Z’s version of John Mulaney cheating on Anna Marie Tendler (“Fulmer and Mulaney were both decently liked men who branded themselves as uber-devoted husbands”), a comparison that’s also made its way to Twitter:

Before we go any further, you’ll need some pics for reference. Here’s Husband Ned and Wife Ariel:

And Other Woman Alex Herring, who was also engaged:

Now that you can visualize these characters, err, I mean, real people with souls and feelings, here’s the rundown: cheating claims initially began swirling on the Try Guys subreddit. Fans noticed Ned wasn’t in the last three episodes of the show. His wife, Ariel, was also absent for the last two episodes of her podcast, which she co-hosts with the other Try Guys wives.  Suspicions grew when the group announced they were only doing one episode per week, instead of their usual two, until the end of October.

Enter Reddit user hamilton390, who many believe is Alex Herring’s (former?) fiancĂ©, Will Thayer: he DMed another Reddit user/Try Guys fan (who’d been commenting in the speculation posts) a series of DM screenshots between Will. The DMs show a random person claiming they saw Alex kissing Ned at a New York club. This person had pics and videos. In the screenshotted messages, probably-FiancĂ© Will/hamilton390 responded that he talked to Ariel about it for an hour:

The recipient of these damning screenshots wasn’t sold. They told hamilton390 that,“ngl that could be literally any white guy?”, via Jezebel:

Hamilton390 then sends a screenshot of Fulmer from their contacts app, including Fulmer’s phone number (blurred out in the screenshots shared publicly). “There’s more to it that I’m not willing to share,” hamilton390 wrote. “But go ahead and call that number and tell me if I’m bluffing. This is Will Thayer @wht3. Alex’s fianceé. There you go.” It’s not clear why hamilton390, claiming to be Thayer, shared Fulmer’s contact—probably to validate that he is who he says he is? The Reddit user with whom he shared it didn’t say publicly whether they tried the number to verify if it was really Fulmer’s.

This morning, Alex-fiancĂ©-Will Thayer’s Instagram page had been taken down. But, before he deleted it, fans noticed he’d unfollowed Alex and her maybe-cheating partner Ned. Alex also scrubbed her Instagram of any engagement pics with Will. At this point, however, the entire cheating scandal was just fan speculation. Until… drumroll please… this afternoon, when the Try Guys announced Ned had been kicked out of the group:

Soon after, cheater cheater pumpkin eater Ned Fulmer posted this statement on his Instagram page:

A huge LOL at including “consensual.” “Just in case you thought I was a predator, I’m not. Classic cheater over here!” And here’s Ariel’s official statement:

Leave his ass! Leave his ass! And, while you’re at it, call up Behati Prinsloo and talk some sense into her too. You could start your own podcast: “Scorched Earth: Dump That Douche!”
