Robin Wright filed for divorce from her French husband Clement Giraudet

I just scrolled through two years of Robin Wright’s Instagram and holy crap, she’s a fun Instagrammer. She’s got some side-businesses – sleepwear?? – and she loves to promote her projects. She’s got tons of family photos on her ‘gram too, and plenty of cute pics of her two children, both of whom are adults now. The whole reason why I had to go through two years’ worth of photos is that 2020 was the last time she posted anything about her husband Clement Giraudet. Robin married Clement in August 2018 after dating for more than a year. It felt like they might be making a home for themselves in both California and France, and then in 2020, it felt like no, they were just California-based. During the early months of the pandemic, they were pap’d several times, riding bikes and looking loved up. Then something shifted during the pandemic. Suddenly, no more pap photos. Clement hasn’t been seen on her IG in two years. And now this: she’s filed for divorce.

Robin Wright and Clément Giraudet are reportedly going their separate ways. The House of Cards actress, 56, has filed for divorce from the Yves Saint Laurent executive, 37, according to TMZ. Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, Wright listed the date of the pair’s separation as July 31, the outlet said.

Wright said in her divorce filing, per TMZ, that “all assets are his/her separate property” based on the “parties’ post-nuptial agreement.” The actress also checked a box to block the court’s ability to award spousal support to either of them, the outlet added.

A representative for Wright did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Wright and Giraudet then tied the knot in August 2018 in a “very intimate and low-key” wedding, a source told PEOPLE at the time.

“Robin wanted it to be about them, not a big production,” the source added.

Wright was previously married to Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010. The actors share son Hopper, 29, and daughter Dylan, 31. Wright was also married to Dane Witherspoon from 1986 to 1988, and engaged to Ben Foster, though they called off their romance in August 2015.

Robin’s whole vibe post-Sean Penn is FUN. She raised her children, got rid of the ham-faced dead weight and she’s been living her best life at the beach. She has tons of friends, she still works, she’s close to both of her kids. It could be that she didn’t feel like compromising anything with Clement, like, why should she have to change? Maybe the age difference was a factor, but come on, Robin is still crazy-hot. If anything, she probably dumped Clement for a hotter, younger and more virile man.

Whatever, wherever, and with whoever, I just want Princess Buttercup to be living her best happily ever after, whatever that means to her.

riding a bike in flipflops is a great way to get a foot injury! yikes!

Yeah, I always wear proper cycling shoes!!! I hate getting totally preventable injuries. 😂🤣

Good call. I was never allowed to bike without shoes on as a kid because my aunt’s foot got mangled when she and my mom were little. I never forgot that lesson!

Clement has been jobless for the past 3/4 years. That’s factual and easy to check to any reporter but they’re too lazy to do so, they keep reporting the guy works for Saint Laurent and he doesn’t. Plus he was never an executive position, just low tier employee. He’s been living off her money and I guess that’s just one huge problem when on the other hand she’s been working non stop, even during the pandemic and mostly directing: she directed (and acted!) an awesome film called Land, she directed two Ozark episodes of the last season and the season finale of Tell me Lies. That might be a problem when you come home to a lazy jobless husband who just spend his days smoking pot, DMing women on IG and riding bikes with teenagers.

Yes, think this could be the reason. It would for me.

yeah, the fact alone that she hired divorce shark queen Laura Wasser tells you all you need to know about the guy: he is going for her money and wants spousal support, TMZ reports say Robin has asked not to be allowed. There’s a post nup (which tells me that sadly there wasn’t a pre nup) stating separate property, which regarding a guy who’s been jobless for the past few years might be the saving grace as he had no income, hence easy to prove he was, and still is, spending her money. I think Robin will be fine and Wasser will protect her coins, maybe someone with expertise in this field could correct me if I’m wrong.

When Robin met him in 2017 he was a low tier employee for Saint Laurent, just one of the pretty boys carrying the shoes and waiting for the celebrities, he shared with other 4 guys a rented tiny apartment in Paris and had an old scooter to ride the to work. She is LOADED (House of Cards money was huge) but she lives a rather modest, frugal life, so he will have a hard time asking money to keep up the same lifestyle, she was never interested in a lavish, luxury life. They moved to LA after the wedding and he quit or was fired and then problems started: the guy would spend all day doing nothing, showing off the cars, would buy expensive bikes, holidays, but no hint of occupation nor job. Just living large with her money. So this divorce I think will be interesting, but I’m sure and I hope Laura Wasser will drag his golddigger aXX. Cheating involved? sure, and pretty embarrassing (for him) also….but that’s for a new post/story.

Add to that he’s French and Robin seems like a bad ass feminist and I bet she realized real quick that it wasn’t for her. Most Frenchmen are sexist and domineering. I live in Paris and am apart of a number of expat groups. I can’t think of one group of women that actually likes Frenchmen. Including other Frenchwomen. Hearing they are divorcing doesn’t surprise me. Just like Scarlett and her Frenchman. I’m still shocked Portman is still with her’s. I’m guessing he lived in NYC long enough to get rid of his bad traits.

It’s clear that the men need Robin, she doesn’t need them. I loved her as Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara, again as Princess Buttercup and she killed it on House of Cards. She is THAT woman.

Anybody who put up with Sean Penn, then came to their senses and got rid of him, deserves nothing but happiness forever.
    Sean Penn is awful! Ugh!

  7. Rhea says:

As Kaiser pointed out, she appears happy and carefree on her Instagram. She’s out there living her best life. She’s a great role model for moving on!

Interesting facts BoraBora. I remembered being a bit surprised when she married this dude. Of course he’s hot, but marriage? Why? She didn’t seem in a hurry to marry Ben foster and she was quite vocal about how over the moon with him she was over I think two broken Engagements. Then of course Sean she didn’t marry until six or seven years went by and two kids. He’s the fling she should have kept a fling.

  9. pyritedigger says:

She needs to stop getting married and just enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.
