Wow! 30 years since Singles? Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah…I’ve got a dyslexic heart….

    • L4Frimaire says:

Be still my GenX heart. I actually saw this in the theatre when it came out. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden was in it. Now I’m feeling nostalgic. How is it 30 years? Ugh, I’m officially old now.

    • Raspin says:

30 years… and the conversation about light rail is still the same.

Mila does look spectacular. Her Netflix film looks interesting, I know that folks either loved the book or hated it.

I saw Singles in theaters with friends, it was a solid film. I went mostly for the music and the love story surprised me.

I couldn’t even get a third of the way through. Part of that wasn’t the book’s fault – I felt like I was reading so many books at the same time that were similar, I feel like it was right around Gone Girl and that genre of the woman who isn’t what she seemed etc etc was super hot, but there was a scene early on that made me thinking “nope, not for me” and I closed it. (well, I deleted it from my nook, which tells you how long ago that was, lol.)

but I am sort of intrigued by the movie.

      She looks stunning! Wow.

    • LIONE says:

It’s such a weird trend to pump up your cheek bones with fillers.

Manchild-Kody needs to be sent to his room for a time out until all the children are grown and out of the house. Then he can have his monogamous marriage with the one foolish woman who seems to want him. I get that his wives have been brainwashed since birth to see themselves as less than, but why anyone would give this emotionally stunted fool a platform is beyond me. Janelle has put up with a lot and been pretty proactive about living her own life, but spare me that she didn’t sign up for patriarchy. This isn’t some free love commune thing. The women aren’t entitled to affection or allowed to seek it. Do we have a word better than patriarchy for that?

    • Lucy says:

I hope Janelle leaves. I don’t think Meri will leave, I don’t know why though. Kody really is showing serious narcissism. I do wonder if his dad and brother, who both died in the past few years, used to keep him in check more. On the other hand, entitled white males are breaking down everywhere because they feel the patriarchy slipping.

      • bettyrose says:

I agree that it’s a general trend with white males, but this weird polygamy cult lives with a mindset from 1,000 years ago. Kody could *never* survive in the modern world. He’d be the classic basement dwelling incel without the social skills to talk to a real life woman.

Mila looks gorgeous, but she doesn’t look like Mila. Her cheek bones seem more prominent, like she had some work done.

    • Snoodle says:

Might have had something done to her cheekbones, might have had fat removed from lower down on her face to make the cheekbones more prominent…might have just lost weight and it’s really showing in her face?

      But yeah, it’s definitely noticeable.

      • bettyrose says:

I’d go with the “fat removed” theory. She’s always been very thin, and especially so in Black Swan, and these cheekbones are new. I hesitate to say this, but she kinda looks like Demi Moore post cosmetic enhancement. I don’t think she’d do that on purpose or anything, she’s not a stalker and has no reason to be, but they went to the same high school, married the same dude, travel in similar circles. It’s not shocking they’d go to the same cosmetic specialist.

    • LIONE says:

Fillers on the line of cheek bones. And most also have fillers on their jawline to balance and make the face even more square.

      • Twin Falls says:

She’s lost volume in her face, as happens when you’re thin and get older and she’s probably had filler added to her cheeks to, as others have said, deal with lines around her mouth, and the overall effect is much more prominent cheek bones. It’s not that they are all going for the same look, it’s just that this is what’s available when you want to hide wrinkles for as long as you can. I see it in regular people too.

I thought it was Jenna Dewan at first.

    Love the dress she’s wearing

  6. erin says:

I always thought Mila was so uniquely beautiful. Here, she looks generic to me. It’s not her fault but it is a sad commentary on beauty standards. We lose so much trying to adhere to them.

    • Jo says:

Agreed. Those eyebrows are a crime and must be scary in person. It’s like we’ve gone back to the fixities where every woman had to have the same pointy boobs, puffy hair, shaped eyebrows etc. thank goodness there is a whole counter-culture out there. It’s like we’re living in the 50s and the 70s at the same time.

  7. MangoAngelesque says:

Kody Brown scares me. He seems unhinged, and it makes me wonder what he would do to his remaining wives and children in desperate effort to control them and get the “respect” and subservience he feels entitled to.

    • bettyrose says:

Is there an emotionally stable way to believe that you’re a conduit to god and heaven for multiple wives and numerous children who are meant to worship and serve you?

  8. SAS says:

Ugh the Karl Lagerfeld Met is going to be so boring.

The Bella Hadid dress moment was gorgeous though.

    • BeanieBean says:

That was fascinating, both the art & the technology, but–do we want more single use anything in this life anymore?

  9. Mollypop says:

Mila is giving Kate Middleton + Meghan Fox.

  10. Lucy2 says:

Mila looks gorgeous. I did not like the book, but I will probably watch the movie. I just heard her on Conan‘s podcast, she was funny.
