The show’s executive producer David X. Cohen reflected on working with the star. “Coolio was one of my favorite guests,” he said. “He was always totally upbeat and genuinely enjoyed coming in to record as his character Kwanzaa-bot.”

Coolio has history on Futurama. He first appeared on the series in 2001. In order to give him “”the best send-off we can,” an episode will be dedicated to him and will feature a rap.

Futurama was rebooted earlier this year. Find out which members of the original cast have reprised their roles.

Tributes have poured in for the hitmaker since his untimely death. That includes one from Michelle Pfeiffer, who appeared in the music video for Coolio‘s Grammy winning song “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
