Fred Goldman Claims That O.J. Simpson Owes Him $96 Million

Depending on where you stand on the 1995 trial of the century verdict, you might be the type of person who thought O.J. Simpson got away with murder. You can probably guess which side Fred Goldman, father of murder victim Ron Goldman, falls into on that subject. But Fred might also suggest that that’s not the only thing O.J. Simpson has gotten away with. He’s also guilty of highway robbery! Not technically, of course (unless CNN is currently reporting on O.J. Simpson ripping off vehicles along the I-75 in Florida). In 1997, the families of the victims of the 1994 double murder of Ron and Nicole Brown Simpson filed a civil suit against O.J., and a court awarded the families a $33.5 million wrongful death judgment. That was 25 years ago, and Fred is still wondering where his money is. And he claims that with interest, the number is actually closer to $96 million now.

TMZ says that Fred Goldman recently filed documents to apply for a renewal of that 1997 judgement in his favor. Solely because Fred is basically growing moss on his shoulders waiting for O.J. to finally cut him a check. Right after the Goldman and Brown families were awarded $33.5 million in that wrongful death civil suit, O.J. Simpson pulled the shadiest of on-field Hail Mary plays by filing for bankruptcy, and high-tailing it to Florida, to prevent his NFL pension from being seized.

Still, many of his possessions were auctioned off in an attempt to see some cash make its way to the victims’ families, but all in all, they only reportedly saw about 1% of the total they were awarded. So that’s why Fred called up his lawyer and decided to apply for a renewal. O.J. probably should have opened his wallet back in the day, because now it’s really going to cost him. via TMZ:

In 2015, Fred said with interest, O.J. owed him $57 million. But, in the new docs, Fred now says interest has continued to pile up over the last 7 years and has now reached nearly $97 mil.

Fred has said O.J. has only made a handful of relatively small payments over the years … and has previously argued that following Simpson’s 2018 release from prison, he’s resumed making money and should be continuing to make payments to the Goldman family.

As mentioned in Fred’s filing, the Juice is currently out on the loose, after being released from prison in 2017. In 2007, O.J. was arrested in Las Vegas for stealing sports memorabilia. A year later, he was sentenced to 33 years in prison, with the possibility for parole after nine years. And after nine years, he was out. In December 2021, he was officially discharged off parole, making him a totally free man. That also means O.J. Simpson is totally free to click-clack make that money, and Fred wants his share.

So what has O.J. Simpson been up to since he was released from the big house? Well, he joined Twitter and tried to sue a Las Vegas resort for defamation. As for a job, well – that’s anyone’s guess. I don’t think the man has been booked and busy on a series of nationwide speaking tours (possible title: O.J. Simpson: You Seriously Paid To See This?).

So how in the world is O.J. Simpson going to come up with nearly $100 million? Especially considering he’s likely broke. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Despite swearing up and down years ago that he’s not Khloe Kardashian’s real father, nobody should be surprised if O.J. starts selling tickets to a pay-per-view event called Maybe O.J. Really Did Do It (With Khloe’s Mom) – Paternity Test Results Live!, solely in the hope that Kris Jenner will call him up and offering him a couple million just to knock it off.
