Warner Bros. Denies Any Conflict With Olivia Wilde On The Set Of “Don’t Worry Darling”

Now that Do Shut Up, Darling has been released to middling reviews, you’d expect stories about the behind-the-scenes drama to stop leaking. But no! Like a wad of spit directed at Chris Pine, the news continues to come hard, wet, and fast. We’ve now got a new rumor about the relationship between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh. Yesterday, Vulture posted a piece on the behind-the-scenes drama of the movie and said that there was an on-set “screaming match” between Olivia and Florence. Two rich women yelling at each other? This is Andy Cohen’s bat signal! He’ll get to the bottom of this!

Don’t Worry Darling has been plagued with drama, despite what some cinematographers may say. From Miss Flo barely saying a word about the film during promo season to Shia LaBeouf quitting/not quitting to Chris maaaaaaaaaaybe getting loogied by Harry Styles, it’s been a shitshow. All the noise has been underpinned by the speculation that Florence is no fan of Olivia. This may or may not be due to Flo not liking that Harry and Olivia were all over each other during filming. Of course, Warner Bros. and Olivia have been on damage control saying that the production was all sunshine and rainbows with absolutely no humping in the trailer during breaks (maybe a little second base though). However, an anonymous source has come forward to say that harmonious is not the word that they’d use to describe the DWD atmosphere:

According to an anonymous source who spent significant time on the DWD set and spoke to Vulture last week, a blowout argument between star and director did indeed take place in January 2021 — about three-quarters of the way through filming. Pugh, who is a few degrees removed from Wilde’s ex, Jason Sudeikis, had reportedly grown fed up with the director’s frequent unexplained absences. “Olivia and Harry would just disappear,” the source says. But the breaking point came when Pugh, 26, and Wilde, 38, broke into a “screaming match,” this person recalls.

The screams were so loud that it reached the exec level of Warner Bros. One of the bigwigs supposedly had to step into the fray and get Florence to agree to not tank the film. The studio is now quashing this rumor. via E! News:

When asked to comment on the report, Warner Bros. co-chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy released a joint statement to E! News with only positive words to say about Wilde.

“We are so proud of the work that Olivia Wilde has done making this incredibly beautiful and entertaining film and look forward to collaborating with her again,” De Luca and Abdy said. “The studio is very grateful and appreciative of the tireless support by Olivia in bringing her vision to life from production through release.”

The executives added, “Any suggestion of conflict between the studio and Olivia is simply not true.”

Florence did post about the movie yesterday on Instagram and included a pic of Olivia (they are not screaming at each other in the pic, I think….):

Don’t all sets have screaming matches between actors and directors? If the number of altercations and tense interactions is any measure of talent, Olivia just needs a few more to reach the directing heights of David O. Russell and Stanley Kubrick!

If there’s a happy ending to this mess, it’s that Harry and Olivia are still together. Yeah, woohoo. Apparently, fans were convinced that the two had split because Harry seemed to be avoiding Olivia during the Venice premiere. But much like “Spit-gate,” the truth is more boring and bland. The couple was seen together eating Mexican food. According to TMZ:

Here’s Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde on a casual date night … more proof the breakup rumors are total BS.

Nothing fancy here … Harry’s wearing an Adidas tracksuit, plus some Adidas sneakers, while Olivia is keeping it plain in a white T-shirt.

Folks who were there say Harry and Olivia ate dinner alone as a couple … and it looks like they washed their food down with a Coca-Cola.

But not only did they eat a burrito à la Lady and the Tramp, but Olivia was also seen dancing to his music at his last show at Madison Square Garden:

We get it, Olivia. You’re in love! But, unfortunately, Olivia is going to have to do a LOT more of her famous dancing if she wants to stop the continual rumors about DWD!
